Technique/Process
I’ll be going out to various places to take pictures based on my themes mentioned above. Pictures would be dissimilar for example water and fire. I will be taking separate images of water and fire and then manipulating them using Photoshop to have an outcome of one image.
Photo manipulation is the technique to edit image in order to create a fantasy or deception.
Techniques I’ll be using for manipulation are as following:
Image combining
Image adding and subtracting
Merging images
Shape measures
Crop and scale
Colour manipulation- Black and White/ CMYK/RGB
Filters
Social and cultural implications
The increasing popularity of image manipulation has raised anxiety as to whether unrealistic images to be exposed to the public.
Article by Susan Sontag called "On Photography" (1977)[1]
“Photographs, which fiddle with the scale of the world, themselves get reduced, blown up, cropped, retouched, doctored and tricked out.”
The statement means that the manipulation ruins the originality of an image, depending on the audience some may like it and some may dislike the manipulation.
